Create a content page

Create pages using templates

Before you start creating a page, you need to consider the following :

  • Where does the page belong? ("news", "products", "support" or "company",  ... Area?)
  • What kind of page is it? It will determinate the kind of template you will have use ("content page", "news details", "industries template" or "product details",  ...)
  • What is the target of the page? What should the customer see, learn and how should he react (Get in contact by a form, download a catalogue, go to another page)?

Processing steps

Step 1:  Go to the target folder (where your new page should be located)

To do this, go in the hierarchic structure of the site to the newsroom area (Newsroom) > News > 2020 (or another year). Click on the text and NOT the image/icon) the parent folder that should receive the page you want to create and then click on the blue button "Create" at the top:

Step 2: Create a page

  • By clicking on the "Create" button, a menu will open.
  • Choose here "Page" (see picture below).

Step 3: Select the template

Select the template you need. Several templates are at your disposal and can be selected according to your needs.

Note: In order to facilitate the work of the editors, the proposed templates are "customized" and contain their own components. For example, the template "News details template" has the "News Detail Header" component, which is a component that is not found in any other template.

Step 4: Fill in page informations

As far as they are known to you, fill the fields "Title", "Name", "Tags", "Page Title" and "Navigation Title" (see picture below).

Basic Title: This is displayed in the backend.

Name: AEM will create one if it is empty, better create your own in lower case and replace the spaces between the words with a hyphen.

Page Title: Copy title or create a different one for the web crawlers (also called a spider, search bot) like Google bot.

Navigation Title: Copy title or create one that fits better for the website menu.

Tags: Tags are a quick and easy method of classifying content within a website. They can be thought of as keywords or labels (metadata) that allow content to be more quickly found as the result of a search.
To assign tags to a page, please click on tags and select one (or more) according to the category/categories in which the page can be classified. The two pictures below show that the page was assigned in  "Product News" and "Circulation blowers".
Note: "Tags" input  can be carried out later.

Done! The confirmation  shows that your page was successfully created.
You can now open it (by clicking "Open") directly to edit it or click "Done" and continue with Step 5.

Step 5: Thumbnail

You can therefore add optionally an image as a thumbnail.
Why add a thumbnail to the page?
A thumbnail allows you to present a page visually. For example, at the bottom of a "product" page it is possible to present other similar (or related) products. Different thumbnails of related products will then be presented. The thumbnail will then be visible.
This is strongly recommended if it is one of the following pages:

  • Product Page
  • News article page
  • Event Page

Optional "Contact Card"

The Contact Card can contain the contact data for (multiple) contact persons that are each displayed as a "Card". Each card contains Image, Name, Position, Function, Address, Phone number, Fax number, E-Mail LinkedIn link (optional) XING link (optional)...

The contact card should be placed on the end of content pages before teasing similar content. The contact persons are already created must only be selected.

The template "News detail template" has a "Contact Card" component by default but if the template you have chosen does not contain the "Contact Card" component and you think it is necessary to add it, you can find out below how How to add a Contact Card:
In the edit mode, drag and drop the Contact Card Layout component from the Components list.

Doubleclick on the Link List or choose the wrench tool at the component to get a setup modal for the Link List and click on "Add" and select the type of contact you want to add
