Meta-elements to enter by creating a page

When creating a page, you will need to enter: Title and Name. What is this information used for and how can you cange and add some?

Title

Title (mandatory!): The Title will be used for all other titles like Page Title or Navigation Title if the other titles are not given and especially for a news article it will be the title of the header.

Name

This is the name of the page in the URL bar.
Note: This field should only contain numbers, lower case letters, dashes and underscores and has to be unique for a page in different languages to enable the language switch. This field is optional. AEM will create one if it is empty.

Basic


Title and Tags

(1) Title (mandatory!): The Title will be used for all other titles like Page Title or Navigation Title if the other titles are not given and especially for a news article it will be the title of the header.

(2) Related Tags: The related tag is available for news and events. The tag will be used in the filter option "Topic".

(3) Category Tag: The category is available for news and events. The tag will be used in the teaser card and in the filter option "Category".

(4) Hide in Navigation: With this option you can hide a page from the navigation

(5) Select "In Focus"...: With this option you can mark a news or an event as a highlight. A colored "In Focus" flag will appear on the teaser card 

More Titles and Descriptions

(6) Short Title: This field is optional and will be displayed in the navigation menu. This title can be used to create a better call to action  

(7) Page Title: It is the page title on top of the browser.
Note: This field is optional. AEM will use Title if this field is left empty.

(8)Navigation Title: This is how the title of the page is displayed in navigation.
Note: This field is optional. AEM will use Title if this field is left empty.

(9)Subtitle: Is the additional title to describe the content.
Note: This field is optional but the AEM will show the subtitle in teaser cards like the overview teaser or news teaser components 

(10) Description: The "Description" (also called meta-description) is used for the page description in the result of the search engine

⚠️ “If Google classifies the specially formulated meta description as too bad or not suitable in relation to the content of the page or the search query, this meta description will either not be displayed in the search results or a description created by Google will be displayed.

Google usually takes this new description from the text of the first third of the website and displays it as a meta description according to the search query.”

Main Menu

  • The main menu breadcrumb uses the navigation title, if the navigation title is not given the title is used
  • The menu title uses the short title, if the short title is not given the navigation or title is used
  • The menu thumbnail uses the thumbnail
  • The manu card title uses the navigation title, if the navigation title is not given the title is used
